Annual Church Meeting
Around 130 members of St George's attended the Annual Church Meeting (ACM) on 29 April.
The meeting opened with a time of worship, which included a 'Year in Pictures' presentation. The Parishioners' Meeting followed, which saw the re-election of Judith Jackson and Alison Oldfield as Churchwardens.
During the Church Meeting, a number of reports were given, including the Finance Report by the Treasurer, Alastair Smith.
Later in the evening, Jonathan Clark outlined the church vision: "To make disciples and grow in order to extend the Kingdom of Jesus in Leeds and beyond, which will be accomplished by dependence on God, using our gifts and creativity, and living a balanced life of UP, IN and OUT".
He said it was encouraging to see this already happening as "there are many signs of life in the church; God is raising up new leaders and the church is growing".
"This is not surprising as Jesus said, "I will build my Church"; so as we look forward to the next 12 months, we must remember whose church it is - not "mine", "yours" or "ours", but "His"".
Specific changes during the next year will include moving the main Roots meeting to a Friday night and the possibility of starting a third Sunday service.
Jonathan prompted the congregation to pray during the next year; that God guides the PCC through changes and decisions, and that God provides the right staff. He said the Church Prayer Meeting (which is on the first Tuesday of each month at 8pm) is a good opportunity for the whole church to depend on God and learn to wait on Him.
