Daily Bible Readings

For some, prayer comes as naturally as breathing and for others it is a constant struggle. Some of us have settled into a comfortable pattern and God is calling us to greater depths or to explore new ways of communicating in prayer with God, while, for others, we need to take again those first steps of being disciplined in a life of prayer.

As we share life together let’s encourage one another by sharing how God speaks to us through his word.

Steps to take to help you focus in study and prayer:

  • Be attentive – switch off that mobile phone.
  • Be receptive – if we start our time with God already knowing what we want to hear and what the text says, then we won’t really listen.
  • Be expectant- our God is a communicating God who wants to speak to us.
  • Each day ask God: “What do you want to say to me today?”

Exodus 13:17-14:4  (View on BibleGateway

God didn’t take the Israelites the short way, because he didn’t want them to get into trouble and change their minds. Sometimes the longest way is the safest. When we find ourselves in the desert and don’t know which way to go let the pillars of God’s commands and promises shine through and guide the way. God is your Father, he wants you to be safe and happy, and he will guide you there. You just need to follow.
