Bridge Cafe
Every fortnight a small free cafe is set up just over the other side of the bridge from St George’s. It is a place in which followers of Jesus can bless, chat, engage and pray with a wide range of people passing over the bridge. It is the aim of this project that through a friendly, enthusiastic and conversational approach a relational bridge can be made in which the love and message of Jesus may cross.
To get involved, or for more info, pick up a flyer with dates from he foyer or contact Jon Swales.
Community Week 2011
St George’s annual Community Week took place from 31 May - 4 June 2011, culminating in an activity day on Saturday 4 June. It was an exciting opportunity to serve our local parish community and display God’s love through our words and actions, as well as being a good chance to get to know each other better and have fun!
Jesus said ‘I will build my church’ (Matt 16.18). The week was about joining in with Jesus as He builds His worshiping community among us and among those in our local area who don’t yet know Him.
As a church in this parish community, we too need to experience the transformation that Jesus came to bring. So it’s not ‘us’ doing it to ‘them’, but God transforming all of us – building His church – building a community of worshippers here.
Prayer
We believe that God cares about the individuals living here, but also about the community as a whole, as well as the place. So we pray that God will use the week to touch individual lives as we build relationships with individuals; that He will build community here as we seek to make community-building a focus of our activities; and also that he will transform the place where this community lives.
We want to pray that God will use the week as another step in building a Christ-centred community here. Please join us in this prayer!
