Christian giving is a response to God's love for us "God so loved the world that he gave his only Son..."

At St George's our finances are built around a carefully 'balanced budget', which in 2005 is £248,000. We encourage all members of St George's to be responsible in stewardship of funds entrusted to the church, and to make a contribution to the budget by giving a tithe (one tenth) of their income.

Once a year, we set aside a Sunday to take stock of our housekeeping and to review all aspects of our giving. We call this 'Give to God' Sunday. St George's supports a very broad and diverse range of activities including children and youth work, overseas mission (direct support of six mission partners), a mission and training fund, thirteen House groups, three clergy, five other staff, and a 'church plant' in our residential parish.

If you are a regular member of St George's we encourage you to give regularly to the church in one of three ways - by donation through the Offertory Bags on a Sunday, by Standing Order directly into the church account (if you are a tax payer, we can reclaim the tax on your giving) or by giving a lump sum through Gift Aid.

Again, if you are a tax payer, we can reclaim the tax. Methods two and three are preferable because your gift is increased by 23%, from reclaimable income tax. Further information and standing order forms can be obtained from the Information Desk in the foyer of the church.

If you would like to talk about your giving to St George's in a confidential manner, please contact any of the following people via the church office. They will be most happy to help you.
