Members
of the St George's Church staff team introduce themselves in their own words.
Janet Gibson
"I’m just that bit older than the rest of the staff and
am the only one left of the team that I joined in 1999! I like things to be
neat, tidy and ordered and find list-making quite therapeutic!
I was born near Swansea and spoke only Welsh until I was four. My formative
years were shaped by (i) chapel and (ii) watching rugby (union, of course)!
I trained as a nurse in London and moved to Leeds with family in 1977. I have
two grown-up children, Ian and Siân. My life changed course in the mid
1990s and, following a nudge from God, left nursing and started work for a
Christian organisation.
I’m the Church Administrator, working as part of the Staff Team in church
leadership and pastoral care. The job is really exciting and rewarding, with
many diverse aspects to it – people, buildings, planning, administration,
PA work, finance. You just never know what’s going to happen next. I
feel very privileged to have a job that I love and want to serve God and the
congregation in the best way that I can.
Outside church, I enjoy classical music and also music from the 60s. I love
reading, especially mystery/detective stories (P D James and Ruth Rendell
are favourites) and walking the dog."
