Members of the St George's Church staff team introduce themselves in their own words.

Revd Jonathan Clark
"
I’m from Northallerton in North Yorkshire, where my parents were farmers. I went to school in York. I like sports and running, and my aim is to reduce my golf handicap each year (it is currently 18 so there’s lots of room for improvement). I am married to Mary who’s a GP, and we have three children, Ed, Jo and Al, who are rapidly becoming independent.

I’m the Team Rector at St George’s and my job is to get everyone else doing as much as possible, hopefully the things God designed them to do and that they love doing.

My spiritual journey got going when I was 18 and I heard that Jesus was alive, and that he loved me. I was amazed by this news, but it was three years before I was ready to count the cost of following him. As soon as I gave in to his gracious invitation, I felt his call to preach the good news I had previously been ignorant of, and then ignored. So, I understand that it takes people time to sort things out with God, and I want the Church to be welcoming and patient with people as they go on this journey.

Prior to coming back to Yorkshire I worked in Liverpool, Essex and London. My vision for St George’s is to see the Church growing - welcoming people and making lasting disciples for Jesus Christ - and then going out - working in partnership with all the Churches to make the good news of Jesus known, so that people can know God personally, find purpose for their lives, and work to transform the city of Leeds."
