What's a podcast?
Podcasting is a new way of creating and listening to media content. It can be thought of as subscription radio, broadcast through the internet.

It enables you to download audio files to your computer and / or mp3 player so you can listen to them whenever you like.

For more information, click here for a description of podcasting.

The difference between this and just downloading the files from our website is that services such as iTunes automate the process of downloading new files as they become available. Once you've subscribed, services like iTunes do the rest. iTunes makes the files available to anyone who chooses to subscribe, free of charge.

St George's Church has a number of audio files available both on the website and through its Podcast. In due course the Podcast will will also make available additional content, e.g a greater back-catalogue of sermons, audio from one-off events.

What is iTunes and how do I use it?

iTunes is an online music store combined with a music player that runs on your PC or Mac. Developed by Apple, iTunes sell music files which can be played on a PC or transferred to mp3 players such as the Apple iPod. However, in addition to the albums, singles and radio content that has been available for download for a while, iTunes now features Podcasts from organisations and individuals - usually the equivalent of subscription radio.

The St George's Church podcast is available free of charge through iTunes and other similar services.

To access iTunes you will need to download the software - visit Apple here and follow the instructions.
