St George's has a number of vibrant youth groups offering teaching and support under the guidance of our youth worker, Beth Tash. Here, Beth explains more about the church's work with young people aged 11+. "God is well into young people - their creativity, passion, dreams, hopes, successes, learning curves, struggles and skills. We aim to walk alongside them, to love them unconditionally, and together be led to Jesus." The 11-13 and 13-15 groups currently meet on Sundays, at the same time as morning services (10.30am), and 16-18s after the evening service (8-10pm). Beth says, "A great team of volunteers get involved in hanging out and building up the youth crew, teaching the bible creatively and relevantly, and each young person is encouraged to engage in, lead, and explore different styles of prayer, worship and mission." "Weekends away, social events, trips out and prayer days are all part of our programme, aiming for maximum fun. They're a great way to meet each others' friends, hang out, and be people that chase after Jesus." Cell groups, focussing on growth and discipleship, are being set up at present. These will give space for peer leadership, accountability and community. Our vision and prayer is that each young person will be an active member of a cell group in a year's time. The St George’s cell groups will come under the Leeds Youth Cell Network, which exists to unite young people in worship and mission across the city. Beth continues, "Leeds is blessed with an amazing network of Christ-centred youth work. We want to be a part of this network, to be involved in our city and be part of what God is doing to reach each young person living in Leeds." "We are also involved in schools' work in association with Leeds Faith in Schools, doing lunch clubs and PSHE lessons, and we pray we can serve those schools more and more." Please do come along to events, chat to our young people at church, and check out the programme cards on the noticeboard.
