Sept/12: Mission Partners

Andy Buckler and Family: France

Andy visited us in the summer and preached on Isaiah 35 (worth listening to if you missed it!) Andy lives with his family in France and his responsibilities include training and equipping (often small) local churches. Click here to hear Andy's Interview and here to listen again to the sermon.

Andy asked for prayer for France and for his ministry.  Pray for small churches waking up to the need for mission and for God to continue to bless those where there are new signs of spiritual life.  Pray for the Alpha course that is being well used, particularly in the Catholic church.  Pray for the Lutheran and Reform Churches as they merge to form a new church next year, that this will provide new opportunities to proclaim the Gospel.

Andy would like prayer for himself that he is able to discern the  often small things that God is doing in the churches that he visits, and that he is enabled to encourage them and join with them in furthering God’s kingdom.

We should continue to remember Andy’s family. Settling into a new home and new schools has been tough and we pray that this situation will be much improved over the coming year.  One of their boys is now living with grandparents in the UK.  Pray for him that he will make friends and benefit from the break from France, and for the rest of the family as they will miss having him among them.

The Israel/Palestine Focus will formally become a Church Network this month. So at this new phase in this unique ministry at St George’s we focus on praying for some of their activities.
Five members of St George's were recently privileged to host a discussion with a number of Jewish colleagues from the Leeds Lobby Network. Pray for David Kibble and his team for sensitivity and courage as they deal with controversial issues when in dialogue with Jewish neighbours; and for guidance as they consider how they might best follow up their initial meeting.
Two members of the congregation are hoping to join a group from Harrogate in October 2013 to visit Bethlehem on a two week work placement. They will be working at a hospital for the disabled. Please pray for God’s blessing on this vision to extend the mission of the network. Pray that God might inspire others to join this team, and for all the practicalities of planning and financing the trip.
Pray for the relationship between St George’s and Hilton Lorie, President of the Leeds Jewish Representative Council; may it be one of mutual respect and understanding. And for the development of real friendships between members of St George's and the Jewish community.
The Leeds Jewish community is once again inviting members of St G's to go on their three day trip to holocaust sites in Poland, including a day at Auschwitz. Jonathan and Mary Clark will be going will be going on this. Pray that God will use this venture to deepen people’s awareness of His compassion for our broken world and for the deepening of relationships between St George's and the Jewish community.
