Leader Update

Jonathan Clark

At last month's Church Prayer Gathering I announced the good news that "the 2 Pauls" (the new Bishop Paul Slater and Archdeacon Paul Hooper) told me that St George's can have a new full time Associate Rector to replace Mark Powley. So, we are now advertising for someone who has been ordained for 3 years and is currently working as a curate. They will lead St George’s with myself and Joanna, and will be responsible for the 18.30 team. Please pray that God to help us find the ideal person to complement our team; and let people know through your network of contacts the type of person we are looking for, details can be found here. Interviews will be mid-January.

At the same time, the 2 Pauls agreed that St George’s should actively be sending out teams to renew Churches in Leeds; this will be part of the job description of the new Associate Rector- to raise up more leaders who we can send out. It is also Mark Harlow's plan- at the end of his curacy training, between summer 2017 and summer 2018 to look for a Parish where he could go as a Vicar, and take a team with him- to get things changing and growing faster. Again, please pray that God will be preparing Mark, preparing a team, preparing St George’s to send people out, and, crucially, helping Mark and the 2 Pauls to identify the right Parish to move to.

Once again, we are thinking big and dreaming big dreams for Leeds. Let's all pray that we catch God's vision, and not our own man-made schemes. As it says in Psalm 127:1:

Unless the Lord builds the house they labour in vain who build it.
