As a resource church in the Diocese of Leeds, St George’s is excited to launch our Worship School.

One of our most frequent requests is ‘Can you send someone to help us with sung worship?’ We understand most local churches have very small teams, limited equipment, and a deep love for their local church. With that in mind, we’d love to bring people together and share experiences to enable us to grow in confidence and explore what would work best in each context.

Are you?

A minister wanting to develop contemporary musical worship in your local/parish church?

One of the only worship leaders in a small church with limited resources, wanting to connect with others on a similar journey?

A musician involved in contemporary sung worship looking to grow in skill and character?

A church music group wanting to grow in leading worship rather than accompanying singing?

Then Worship School is for you!

Over six months, participants will engage with six interactive and practical sessions in a learning community-style, worshipping together and hearing from a range of practitioners.

Churches are welcome to send one team member/leader, or a group of participants.

Themes include:

Why we worship in song

The character of a worship leader

Practicalities of leading musical worship

Working with others in leading sung worship

Developing musical worship leadership skills

Leading in step with the Spirit

Venue

St George's Church Leeds, LS1 3BR (Parking available at Joseph’s Well)

Worship School Host

Worship School will be hosted by St George's Worship Pastor, Dan Hebden.

Dan has been part of the team at St George's for 10 years and worship pastor since 2015. Dan has a wide range of experience in leading worship in a variety of different contexts, from local churches to large events and conferences. Dan brings experience of growing teams and raising up leaders and musicians from different backgrounds to contribute towards musical worship in the local church.

“I love seeing local churches encouraged in their sung worship, and at St George's we love to play our part as a resource church in the diocese. Worship School is a great way that we can continue to do this.”

Cost

Worship School is offered by St George’s as a resource for the local church, and as such the majority of the cost is subsidised by St George’s Church. In order to remain accessible and affordable, we ask for a contribution of £30 per church (up to six participants). This includes all sessions, refreshments and PDF resources.

Do get in touch if you have any questions regarding cost or booking.
